"Wallis is a City dedicated to building on its "Can Do" heritage. "
Government, citizens and businesses are engaged in an aggressive and progressive program of community and economic development to assure a bright and secure future for the City and its citizens.
Following last week’s severe weather storm, the City of Wallis would like to announce programs that will be put in place immediately for this month only to help city water and sewer utility customers:
* All late fees have been waived for February billings
* Minimum usage for all accounts has been adjusted from 3,000 gallons to 25,000 gallons. This means all customer readings up to 25,000 gallons will only be charged the minimum charge.
Now that Austin County has been declared at the Federal level, home and business owners can begin filing for assistance. Go to www.fema.gov/disaster/4586 to begin the process. The application says it will take about 20 minutes. One of the first notes is this: "We cannot provide money to people or households for losses already covered by insurance. If you have not already contacted your insurance company to file a claim, please do this as soon as possible. Failure to file a claim with your insurance may affect you getting grant assistance." This is not a city program nor a city application so other than direct you to the website, we are unable to assist with the status of your application.
City of Wallis will be distributing bottled water on Sunday, February 28th between the hours of 3pm-5pm. Pick up location will be at the City Hall parking lot, 6810 Guyler Street. If you happen to live reside outside our city limits, you are still welcome to pick up water. Water will be limited to two (2) cases per household.
